An undersea earthquake in Indonesian waters has killed at least one person and set off small tsunami waves in the region. The magnitude -7.4 earthquake early Thursday was centered in the Molucca Sea west-northwest of Ternate in North Maluku province. Tsunami waves up to a foot in height were measured off Indonesia, and smaller waves off the Philippines. Indonesian authorities said at least one person died and communities along the coast should still exercise caution. Some damage to buildings occurred in Ternate, and assessments were still being conducted elsewhere.
