WHO head will oversee evacuation of passengers, crew from hantavirus-stricken cruise ship

The head of the World Health Organization has arrived in Spain to oversee the evacuation of passengers from a hantavirus-stricken cruise ship heading to Tenerife. The ship is expected to arrive early Sunday. So far, no one on board was showing symptoms. Three people have died since the outbreak, and five passengers who left the ship are infected. Spain has activated the EU civil protection mechanism for medical evacuation. Health authorities are tracking over two dozen passengers who disembarked before the outbreak was detected. The risk to the Canary Islands and globally remains low, according to the WHO.
