Nobel Prize in chemistry set to be awarded in Stockholm

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will award the Nobel Prize in chemistry. The announcement is expected Wednesday in Stockholm. Last year, three scientists won the Nobel Prize in chemistry for their development of new molecular structures that can trap vast quantities of gas inside, laying the groundwork to potentially suck greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere or harvest moisture from desert environments. The medicine and physics awards this week have recognized studies of brain activity and neutrinos. The literature prize is set to be awarded Thursday. The peace prize will be announced Friday and the economics prize will be the final of this year’s Nobels when it’s announced Monday. The prize money this year is about $1.2 million.
